Iran and the US are said to be reviewing fresh proposals from mediators on how to resolve their differences and avoid a return to all-out hostilities.
Qatari mediators, who met in Tehran for talks yesterday, are understood to expect feedback from the two sides within two days. Amid the renewed flurry of diplomacy, the US overnight carried out limited strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island, designed to help ships sail safely through the Strait of Hormuz, and leaving the door open for escalation.
